The southern flank of the Stalingrad battlefield, Lysaya Gora (Bald Hill) was a strategic height fought over throughout the battle. A 20-metre obelisk marks the hill, which still contains unexploded ordnance in places. The site is less visited than Mamayev Kurgan and offers a quieter, more contemplative experience of the Stalingrad battlefield.
