The old town (Staré Mesto) is entirely walkable. Most sights are within a 20-minute walk of the Main Square. The Bratislava Castle and St Martin's Cathedral are at the western edge; Slavín is a 20–30 minute uphill walk north; the Blue Church is a 10-minute walk east of the old town.
The city has trams and a dense trolleybus network. Tram 1 runs along the embankment and up to the main train station. Single tickets cost around €0.90 and can be bought from machines or via the IDS BK app. The 24-hour pass (around €3.50) is good value for a full day of exploration.
Cycling is increasingly popular; the city has a bike-share scheme (Rekola) and a riverside cyclepath that extends in both directions.
