Eating Out

Žilina has a decent range of cafes and restaurants for a mid-sized Slovak city. The old town arcades on Marian Square have the most atmospheric locations. Slovak cuisine is hearty: bryndzové halušky (potato dumplings with sheep cheese and bacon) is the national dish and appears on most traditional menus. The city also has a good selection of pizza places and a growing number of craft beer pubs reflecting broader Slovak food trends.
