The famous photograph of Bled — the church on its island, the castle on its cliff, the Julian Alps behind — is taken from the Mala Osojnica viewpoint on a small hill at the western end of the lake. Getting there requires a steep but short hike of about 45 minutes from the lake-shore at Zaka, including a final scramble up a metal ladder bolted into the rock.
Wear proper shoes, take water, and aim to be at the top about an hour before sunset — though sunrise gives even better light. The neighbouring Velika Osojnica viewpoint, a further 20 minutes uphill, offers a higher and quieter alternative.
