Bovec is Slovenia's adventure sports hub, and the Soča river is the reason. White-water rafting, kayaking, and canyoning on the Soča are the main draw from spring to autumn. In winter, the Kanin ski resort operates directly above town. The wider valley has significant World War I history — the mountains around Bovec were the front line of the Isonzo Front — and Fort Kluže and the remnants of trenches in the hills reward those who look.
