Butchers' Bridge (Mesarski most)

The Butchers' Bridge is a pedestrian footbridge connecting the covered market to the opposite bank of the Ljubljanica. Opened in 2010, it is notable for two things: the bronze sculptures by Jakov Brdar attached to its railings (including a life-size figure of Prometheus chained to a rock), and the thousands of padlocks that couples attach to the railing cables — a practice the city has made peace with rather than removed.

The bridge is narrow and often busy with foot traffic. The view east from the middle of the bridge takes in the cathedral tower and the castle hill, which is one of the most attractive views in the city.
