Ljubljana has good rail and road connections to neighbouring countries and is well positioned as a stopover between Vienna, Venice, and Zagreb.
By air: Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport is 26 km north of the city. A shuttle bus runs to the city centre every hour, taking about 45 minutes. Taxis and ride-share apps are also available. The airport has connections to major European hubs including Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, and Vienna.
By train: Ljubljana is on the main line between Salzburg/Vienna and Zagreb. Direct trains run to Vienna (5–6 hours), Zagreb (2.5 hours), and Venice (3.5 hours via Trieste). The railway station is in the centre of the city, a ten-minute walk from Prešeren Square.
By bus: Flixbus and regional coaches connect Ljubljana to Vienna, Zagreb, Trieste, and Italian cities. The bus station is next to the railway station.
By car: From Vienna, take the A2 to Graz then the A9 south through Spielfeld into Slovenia. From Venice/Trieste, take the A4 to Trieste then the A3/E61 to Ljubljana. Parking in the city centre is limited; the best option is one of the multi-storey car parks near the city centre.
