Logarska Dolina (Logar Valley)

Logarska Dolina is one of the most spectacular alpine valleys in Europe, a glacial cirque rimmed by peaks that rise steeply on three sides and open to the east toward Solčava village. The valley floor is dotted with farms that have been here for centuries — many now run tourist accommodation — and the meadows bloom with wildflowers in summer.

The main draw is the walking and the sheer drama of the landscape. A marked path leads from the entrance to the Rinka Waterfall at the head of the valley, a 90-minute walk each way. Most visitors do the full valley loop, passing old farm buildings, mills, and the small Church of the Holy Spirit. In winter the valley fills with cross-country skiers.

Entry to the Logarska Dolina Landscape Park costs a small fee per car; arriving by bicycle is free. The park is at its best from May to October. Facilities are minimal inside — bring food and water.

A story
The valley was shaped by glaciers during the last Ice Age and is a near-perfect glacial cirque, stretching 7 km into the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. It has been a protected landscape park since 1987 — one of the first protected areas in Slovenia.
