The Savinja and Šalek valleys have year-round appeal, though the peak season for most visitors is summer.
Summer (June to September) is prime time for hiking, rafting, and visiting Logarska Dolina. The Rinka Waterfall is most dramatic in May and June after snowmelt. July and August bring the most visitors to the Logar Valley — arrive early in the morning to avoid the day-trip crowds at the entrance.
Autumn is quieter and often beautiful, with the forest slopes changing colour above the valley farms. The Savinja River is good for fishing until October.
Winter (December to March) brings skiing at Golte and cross-country skiing in the Logar Valley when conditions allow. The valley is sometimes inaccessible by car in deep winter due to snow — check road conditions before setting out.
Spring can be unpredictable but the wildflowers and the snowmelt-fed waterfalls make April and May especially scenic.
