Mozirski Gaj is a large public flower garden in the town of Mozirje, spread across several hectares along the Savinja River. It is one of the most visited gardens in Slovenia, particularly during spring and summer when the flowers are at their peak. The garden is thoughtfully laid out with different themed sections, water features, and paths that make for a pleasant hour or two of wandering.
The garden hosts seasonal events and flower shows, and there is a children's playground and café on site. In winter the garden closes, but the town of Mozirje itself is worth a stop for its compact historic centre and views up toward the mountains. Mozirje is a good base for exploring the upper Savinja valley — closer to the action than Velenje and with a more traditionally alpine feel.
