The Costa del Sol earns its name — this stretch of coast averages 320 days of sunshine a year, and Arroyo de la Miel benefits from the same mild climate. Summers are hot and dry, with July and August temperatures regularly reaching 35°C, and the coast filling up with Spanish holidaymakers as well as northern European visitors. If you want to avoid the crowds and the heat, May, June, September, and October are the ideal months — warm enough to use the beach and the cable car without the peak-season pressure.
Winters are mild and almost entirely rain-free by northern European standards, though the mountains can get cold. December and January occasionally see snow on Monte Calamorro, giving the cable car views an extra dimension. The Feria de Benalmádena takes place in late July, bringing a week of live music, dancing, and fairground attractions to the municipality. Semana Santa (Holy Week) in April is observed seriously here, with processions through Arroyo de la Miel's streets that are worth watching if you are in the area.
