Playa de Regla is Chipiona's main beach — a wide sweep of fine pale sand stretching south from the Sanctuary, backed by a paved boardwalk lined with chiringuitos (beach bars), ice-cream stalls, and family-run restaurants. The Atlantic here is cooler than the Mediterranean side of Andalucía but the water is clean, and the gently sloping bottom makes it good for families with children.
The southern end is quieter and tends to attract older locals; the central section near the boardwalk is where most of the action is in July and August. Sunset from the promenade — looking across the river mouth towards Doñana — is one of the great quiet pleasures of the Cádiz coast.
