Torre del Oro

This 13th-century Almohad watchtower on the bank of the Guadalquivir once anchored a chain that stretched across the river to block enemy ships. The name — Tower of Gold — may refer to gilded tiles that once covered the upper section, or to the golden reflection it cast on the water. Inside is a small naval museum; outside, the riverside promenade connects it to the bullring and Triana bridge.
