Things to Do

Seville is a walking city — almost everything worth seeing is in or near the old centre, packed into a compact area either side of the Cathedral. Start there: the Cathedral, the Giralda bell tower, and the neighbouring Real Alcázar easily fill a morning between them. Wander afterwards through the narrow lanes of Barrio Santa Cruz, stop for tapas, and cross the river in the evening to Triana for flamenco. The Plaza de España and María Luisa Park are worth a separate half-day trip, as is the Museo de Bellas Artes in a former Mercedarian convent — a small but excellent collection of Spanish Golden Age painting, particularly strong on Murillo and Zurbarán (both Sevillian).
