Los Lances is the broad sweep of sand that makes Tarifa feel more Atlantic than Mediterranean. The beach runs north from town toward the dune-backed coast, with enough room for walkers, swimmers, and the wind-powered crowd that comes here for kitesurfing and windsurfing.
The protected wetland behind the sand is part of the appeal. Migrating birds use the lagoon and marshy edges, while the beach itself gives wide-open views toward the Strait of Gibraltar and the mountains of Morocco on clear days. It is best when you want space and wind rather than a sheltered cove.
