The Museo de la Ciudad de Velez-Malaga is housed in the former Hospital de San Juan de Dios, a 15th-century Mudejar-style building. Its collection covers the history of La Axarquia from prehistory through the modern period.
It is a useful first stop in Velez-Malaga's old centre before walking to the churches, fortress, and historic streets nearby.
