The Plaza de Cristo Rey and the Iglesia de la Asunción can be seen in an hour. After that, the Ruta del Contorno walk below the village reveals the drama of the site in a way the streets above cannot. The surrounding Maestrazgo landscape rewards a half-day or full-day walk if the weather is good.
Mirambel, 10 kilometres north, is one of the best-preserved medieval walled villages in Spain and deserves a separate half-day visit. La Iglesuela del Cid, 15 kilometres east, is another Maestrazgo village worth a brief stop for its medieval street pattern and fortified church.
