Diocesan Museum of Huesca

The Diocesan Museum of Huesca occupies a building adjacent to the Cathedral and houses one of the more significant collections of Aragonese medieval and Renaissance religious art in Spain. The collection includes carved altarpieces, panel paintings, illuminated manuscripts, and liturgical silver from churches across the Province of Huesca — much of it rescued from villages that were abandoned or damaged in the 20th century.

Several of the altarpieces are large-scale works of considerable quality, painted in the distinctive Aragonese style that absorbed Flemish and Italian influences without entirely abandoning its own idiom. The museum is not large but is well organized, and visiting it alongside the Cathedral gives a much stronger sense of the region's artistic history than either alone.
