The Green Belt is the chain of parks, wetlands, and reforested land that wraps Vitoria-Gasteiz. About 30 kilometres of paths link Salburua in the east through Olarizu to Armentia and Zabalgana in the west, with shorter loops through Zadorra woods to the north.
You can walk or cycle the whole ring in a long day, or split it into manageable sections. Free city bicycle hire makes the longer routes practical, and the path is flat almost everywhere. The Anillo Verde was the chief reason Vitoria was named European Green Capital in 2012.
