Shopping

The main pedestrian shopping street is Calle Eduardo Dato in the Ensanche, with national chains, Basque-Spanish brands, and a string of small independents. For more interesting shops — vintage clothes, design objects, secondhand books — try Calle Postas, Calle Correría in the old town, and the streets around the Bibat museum.

The Mercado de Abastos on Plaza de Santa Bárbara is the city's main covered market, modernised in the 2000s with restaurants on the upper floors. It is the obvious place to put together a picnic or to taste local cheeses and chorizos. Closed Sundays.
