Calle Cuchillería

The longest of the old town's trade streets, running the full length of the upper hill town from the cathedral end to the gate of Portal del Rey. "Cuchillería" means cutlery — this was the street of the knife-makers in the Middle Ages.

It is now the main bar street of the old town: dozens of pintxo bars, cider houses, rock dives, and small political bookshops in old shop premises with original signage. Walk it at 9pm on a Saturday for the full effect.
