The city's "Itinerario Muralístico" is a self-guided tour of large-scale outdoor murals on blank gable walls across the old town. The murals — commissioned annually since 2007 from local and international artists — illustrate aspects of Vitoria's history and the surrounding landscapes.
A free map from the tourist office on Plaza España lists about a dozen works, each with a brief explanation. Walking them is a good excuse to wander streets you might otherwise skip and an introduction to the look of the upper old town.
