The restaurants in Valle Gran Rey split between traditional Canarian fish cooking and the international alternative-traveller menus that have served the long-stay community since the 1970s. Fresh fish from the Vueltas boats is the thing to eat — vieja (parrotfish), cherne (wreckfish), and sama cooked simply on a grill with papas arrugadas (wrinkled potatoes) and mojo sauce. Several vegetarian and vegan restaurants serve the community that has built up here over decades.
