Playa Flamingo is the main beach in Playa Blanca, a wide arc of pale sand directly in front of the resort's promenade. It is sheltered, calm, and easy to reach on foot from anywhere in town — none of the logistical effort of the Papagayo coves. That convenience makes it more crowded than those wilder beaches, but the water is still clear and the conditions suit families. Sunbeds, parasols, and pedalo hire are all available.
The promenade running behind the beach is pleasant for an evening walk, and the restaurants and cafes along it are where most of the resort's evening activity concentrates. The beach faces west, which means the sunset can be spectacular on clear days. For serious swimming or snorkelling, the Papagayo beaches are better, but Flamingo is perfectly adequate for a casual day on the sand.
