Getting There

La Laguna is served by the Tenerife Metro system — the city is the northern terminus of the tram line that links it to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Tenerife's main city and administrative capital. The tram is modern, reliable, and runs frequently; the journey to Santa Cruz takes about 30 minutes. Santa Cruz has the main ferry terminal with connections to the other Canary Islands and to the Spanish mainland.

Tenerife Norte airport (Los Rodeos), which handles inter-island flights and some European connections, is just a few kilometres from La Laguna. For most international visitors, Tenerife Sur airport (Reina Sofía) in the south is the main arrival point; from there, a bus or taxi to La Laguna takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic.

By car from the south, the TF-5 motorway connects Tenerife Sur with the Santa Cruz/La Laguna area in about 45 minutes. Within the city, the historic centre is pedestrianised; park on the outskirts and walk in.
