Domus Artium 2002, usually shortened to DA2, is Salamanca's contemporary art centre, housed in a converted former prison just outside the historic core. Its changing exhibitions, video work, installations, and photography give the city a modern counterweight to sandstone colleges and Renaissance facades.
The building itself is part of the interest, with old institutional spaces adapted into galleries rather than erased. It is a worthwhile detour if you have already seen the university and cathedrals, or if you want to test Salamanca's cultural life beyond its famous historic image.
