Spring and autumn are the best times to visit Zamora: mild temperatures, good light, and the city operating at a normal pace. Semana Santa (Holy Week, in March or April depending on the year) is the undisputed highlight of the city's calendar — the processions are among the most dramatic in Spain and the city fills with visitors. Book accommodation months in advance if you want to visit then.
Summer can be brutally hot — inland Castile in July and August regularly exceeds 40°C and the city is quiet as locals escape to the coast. December is cold but the Christmas celebrations and market on the Plaza Mayor are enjoyable.
