Eating Out

Zamora's food culture is firmly Castilian: roast suckling pig (cochinillo), roast lamb (lechazo), and bean stews are the staples. The city has a well-established tapas tradition along the streets near the Plaza Mayor — a glass of Toro wine (from the appellation just 30 kilometres west) with a free tapa is common at lunch and early evening. Toro produces some of the best tempranillo-based wines in Spain and is worth exploring.
