Bar Pinotxo is the most celebrated breakfast and lunch counter inside La Boqueria market — a narrow bar with eight stools where Juanito Bayen and his family have been feeding Barcelona since 1940. The food is simple Catalan cooking of exceptional quality: garbanzos with salt cod, cuttlefish with chickpeas, fried eggs with asparagus, whatever is fresh from the stalls that morning.
Arrive early (before 8am for breakfast, before 1pm for lunch) or you will not get a seat. The prices are genuinely fair for the quality. One of those rare tourist landmarks that is still entirely authentic and genuinely excellent.
