Gala Dalí Castle in Púbol is one of the three main Dalí sites in Catalonia, alongside Figueres and Portlligat. Dalí bought and transformed the medieval castle for Gala, and the result is part residence, part shrine, and part surrealist stage set.
It is a day trip from Girona rather than an urban sight, but it fits naturally into an Empordà art-and-village itinerary. The rooms, garden, and Gala's crypt make the visit more intimate than the theatre-museum in Figueres, with a quieter look at the personal mythology around the couple.
