Lleida sits on the main Barcelona–Madrid and Barcelona–Zaragoza rail corridors. High-speed AVE trains connect Barcelona with Lleida in about one hour, and there are services to Zaragoza and Madrid. The station, Lleida Pirineus, is in the newer part of the city about 15 minutes' walk from the old centre.
By car, Lleida is two hours west of Barcelona on the A-2 motorway and two hours east of Zaragoza. It is a natural stop between the two. There is no commercial airport; the nearest are Barcelona El Prat and Zaragoza.
