Sabadell has a good range of local restaurants, most concentrated around the Plaça de Sant Roc and the side streets running south from it. Prices are noticeably lower than in Barcelona for comparable quality. The Catalan cooking here is unfussy — grilled meats, salt cod in various preparations, good bread with tomato — rather than the showier modern cuisine the city sometimes imports.
The Mercat Central is a starting point for understanding what local ingredients look like. Several small restaurants near the market serve a lunch menu (menú del día) that offers three courses with wine for a fixed price — still the best-value way to eat well in Catalonia.
