Nerga is one of the finest beaches on the Morrazo peninsula, facing west into the open Atlantic on the far side of Cangas from the ría. The water is clear and cold, the sand fine and pale, and the beach is backed by low dunes and a small car park. In summer it can get busy at midday, but it never reaches the crowds of the resort beaches further south.
The setting is genuinely beautiful: to the west, the Cíes Islands are close enough to dominate the horizon. Surfing is possible at Nerga when Atlantic swells push in from the northwest; the beach break is best in autumn and spring.
