Getting Around

Vigo's city centre is compact and walkable, but the city spreads across steep hills that can make longer journeys tiring on foot. The bus network (Vitrasa) covers the urban area well, with frequent services to the beaches, the museum at Alcabre, and the Bouzas fishing district. Single tickets cost around €1.

The historic tram (tranvía) runs a scenic route from Praza do Berbés near the port along the waterfront — primarily a tourist attraction, but useful for the coastal stretch. Taxis are plentiful and reasonably priced by Spanish standards. Cycling is possible on the flat waterfront paths but challenging on the hillier parts of the city.

For the Islas Cíes, book the ferry early in summer — the daily visitor limit means ferries sell out weeks in advance during July and August. Ferries depart from the Estación Marítima in the city centre.
