By air: Vigo Peinador Airport (VGO) sits just 9 km from the city centre and has direct connections to Madrid, Barcelona, and several European destinations. Porto Airport (OPO) in Portugal, about 120 km south, offers a wider choice of international flights and is worth considering — taxis and buses connect it to Vigo.
By train: The Renfe high-speed AVE line reaches Vigo from Madrid in around 2 hours 45 minutes. Services also run to A Coruña, Pontevedra, and Santiago de Compostela. The main station is Vigo-Guixar in the city centre, with Vigo-Urzaiz serving long-distance trains.
By road: The AP-9 autopista runs north to Santiago de Compostela and south into Portugal, where it connects with the A3 to Porto. The drive from Madrid (580 km) takes about six hours. Cross-border buses from Porto, Madrid, and other cities are operated by companies including ALSA.
By sea: Cruise ships call at Vigo's port, and ferries run to the Islas Cíes seasonally.
