Arvidsjaur's headline attraction is Lappstaden, the timber Sami church town in the centre. Beyond that the town is a base for Lapland outdoors — winter testing, snowmobile safaris, dog sledding, ice fishing in winter; canoeing, hiking, and long evenings in summer. The Inlandsbanan steam train runs north-south through town and is part of the experience for many visitors.
