Kristine kyrka, Jönköping's oldest surviving church, dates to the 17th century and is the main church of the city centre. The current building was largely reconstructed in the 18th century after fires, but retains its historic character. The tower is a landmark visible from much of the city.
The church is named after Queen Christina of Sweden, who granted Jönköping its city charter. The interior features a notable altarpiece and a collection of votive ships, the tradition of hanging model ships in churches being common across Scandinavia. Free to enter during opening hours.
