Jukkasjarvi Church is one of the oldest churches in Swedish Lapland, first built in 1607 and later extended in 1726. Its best-known feature is the 1958 altarpiece by Bror Hjorth, a colourful wood sculpture with a modern, cubist character.
The church is an easy cultural stop when visiting Jukkasjarvi and the Icehotel area. It adds a sense of the older settlement history behind a place now better known for winter tourism.
