Lysekils kyrka sits on the rocky knoll behind the harbour, built in 1901 in heavy local pink granite to a design by Adrian Pettersson. The exterior is muscular and unornamented; the interior is brighter, with painted wooden vaulting, a stained-glass window in the apse, and a 1981 organ. Its perch makes it the visual anchor of the town from the water.
The church is normally open during summer days; in shoulder seasons knock at the parish office across the lane. Even if it is closed the climb up is worth it for the harbour view from the porch. From the lower town, follow Stora Kyrkogatan up.
