Fotografiska is Stockholm's international photography museum, housed in a converted art nouveau customs building on the Södermalm waterfront. The galleries are large and the programming serious — major international photographers show here alongside Swedish names, with typically four or five major exhibitions running simultaneously.
The building is also a social hub: the rooftop bar and restaurant have good views over the water to Gamla Stan, and the place stays open late (until midnight Thursday through Saturday). It has become one of the most visited cultural venues in the city, and rightly so — the combination of serious photography, a handsome building, and a good bar is hard to resist.
