Shopping in Crans-Montana means the Rue du Prado in Crans, a kilometre-long main street lined with boutiques selling ski equipment, designer clothing, Swiss watches, jewellery, and alpine food products. The density and quality of the shops is high for a resort this size — Crans has always attracted wealthy visitors and the retail offer reflects that.
The obvious purchases are Swiss watches (several dealers carry brands not easily found outside Switzerland) and local food: the Valais region produces some of the finest dried beef (viande séchée) in the world, along with hard cheeses, walnut oil, and saffron from the nearby village of Mund. These are sold in delicatessens on the main street and in the covered market in Montana. Sports equipment rentals and purchases are available at multiple ski shops throughout both villages, with the main concentrations near the gondola base stations.
