LAAX Ski Resort

The LAAX ski resort — shared between Laax, Flims, and Falera — is the largest connected ski area in central Switzerland, with over 220 kilometres of marked runs stretching from the valley floor to the Vorab glacier at 3,018 metres. What distinguishes it from other large Swiss resorts is the focus on freestyle: the snowpark at Crap Sogn Gion is consistently rated among the best in the Alps, with kickers, rails, and half-pipes maintained to competition standard throughout the season.

The resort is particularly strong for intermediate skiers, with long, comfortable runs from Crap Sogn Gion and the Vorab plateau, but the terrain parks and boardercross tracks attract a younger, more technical crowd. The highest lift, a gondola from Crap Sogn Gion to the Vorab glacier, keeps the upper mountain skiable well into spring. Equipment rental and ski school are available at Murschetg, the mid-mountain hub between Laax village and the upper mountain.

A story
The LAAX snowpark at Crap Sogn Gion is one of the largest in the world and hosted the first Freestyle.ch competition in 2003. In 2004, the resort appeared in the Xbox snowboarding game Amped 2, which sold over a million copies — giving Laax a global profile that St. Moritz's marketing budget couldn't buy.
