Corviglia

Corviglia is the main ski mountain above St. Moritz, reached by the Corviglia Funicular from the village center. At 2,486 metres, the summit offers a long panorama over the Upper Engadin valley and its chain of lakes. The terrain here is broad, sunny, and well-suited to confident intermediates — long cruising runs on well-groomed pistes that catch the full force of the 300 days of annual sunshine St. Moritz claims.

The funicular itself, climbing from 1,775 metres in under eight minutes, is the historic artery of the resort. At the top, a handful of mountain restaurants serve Engadin classics: barley soup, maluns (potato and flour cakes fried in butter), and wine by the glass in the thin, clear air. The ski World Cup circuit uses the Corviglia course each January for men's speed events, leaving compacted, fast snow that lingers well into the season.
