Getting There

By air

The nearest international airports are Zurich (about three hours by car) and Milan (three and a half hours). A small regional airport at Samedan, just outside St. Moritz, handles private flights and some seasonal connections from Zurich.

By train

The most scenic option. Take an intercity train to Chur, then change to the Rhatische Bahn narrow-gauge railway for the final stretch to St. Moritz. From Milan, the Bernina Express climbs from Tirano over the Bernina Pass, one of the great railway journeys in Europe. Book at rhb.ch.

By car

From northern Switzerland, take the A13 motorway to Thusis, then follow the road over the Julier Pass into the Engadin valley. In winter, you can load your car onto the train from Thusis to Samedan to avoid the pass.
