The former Residence of the Bukovinian and Dalmatian Metropolitans is Chernivtsi's great set piece: striped brickwork, tiled roofs, ceremonial halls, gardens, and churches folded into one 19th-century complex. It is now part of the university, so access can vary, but even the exterior is worth the walk from the centre.
