A short cable railway that climbs the steep slope between Podil and the Upper Town, opened in 1905 and one of the city's small civic pleasures. Two cars pass each other on the single line at roughly 90 metres above the lower station, with views over the Dnieper between them.
The ride takes about three minutes and costs the same as a metro fare. It is the easiest way to avoid the climb up from Podil and a worthwhile experience in itself.
