Pirogovo Open-Air Museum

A vast outdoor museum on the southern edge of Kyiv with around 300 rural buildings — peasant houses, churches, windmills, farmsteads — relocated from across Ukraine and arranged by region. It works as an introduction to Ukrainian rural architecture and folk culture, and as a day-out park: 150 hectares of orchards and meadows, with traditional crafts demonstrated on weekends.

It is about an hour from the city by metro and bus. The Carpathian and Polissya sections, with their distinctive wooden church architecture, are the most striking. Bring a picnic.
