Taras Shevchenko Park

A small central park between Volodymyrska Street and the university, dominated by a 1939 statue of Taras Shevchenko — the 19th-century poet who is to Ukraine what Pushkin is to Russia. The park is one of the most pleasant green spaces in central Kyiv, fronted by the bright red Stalinist-classical bulk of Taras Shevchenko National University.

In good weather it fills with students, chess players, and pensioners. The Khanenko Museum and Saint Volodymyr's Cathedral are both a few minutes away.
