Poltava Regional Museum

The Poltava Regional Museum (Poltavsky Kraieznavchy Muzei) is one of the oldest museums in Ukraine, founded in 1891. Its permanent collection covers natural history, archaeology (including Scythian artefacts from the surrounding steppes), and regional ethnography. A dedicated hall addresses the 1709 battle with additional military artefacts supplementing what is on display at the battlefield museum. The building itself — a handsome early-20th-century structure — is worth a look from outside.
