Assumption Cathedral

The Assumption Cathedral (Uspenska Tserkva) is one of the finest examples of Ukrainian Baroque architecture in the country. Built between 1748 and 1801 on the foundations of an earlier church, its white walls and pale-blue domes make it one of Poltava's most photogenic buildings. The interior preserves a richly carved iconostasis. The cathedral stands near the Poltava Round and is best seen in the early morning light.
